The English Springer Spaniel breed represents two almost completely different types of dog. A working or field-bred dog and a show breed.
The two types of dog appear to be different breeds, but are registered as the same. The gene pools are in fact, almost completely segregated and have been for more than 70 years. A field-bred Springer would not stand a chance in dog show while a show dog would not have the characteristics or ability to excel in the field against a field-bred dog. Field-bred Springers tend to have shorter, coarser coats than the show-bred Springer.
TheEnglish Cocker Spaniel is breed of gun dog. It resembles the American Cocker but has very different characteristics and abilities. Due to the breed's happy disposition and continuously wagging tail, it has been given the nick name "Merry Cocker". Cockers are known for their friendly, faithful, playful, and affectionate natures.
